Its the Truth

Truth Coffee HQ. Steam punk wall to wall. With no beautiful detail left untouched by designer Haldane Martin's genuis hands. Even the barista uniforms designed by The Little Hattery are a fabulous touch and add an eccentric edge to each tatooed and mustachioed coffee artisan. So well done Cape Town on another fabulous coffee stop.  Bitter.... never!

Host

Now if I had a Danish computer it would have spelt that correctly, so just imagine two little dots above the O. This insanely gorgeous Copenhagen restaurant designed by Norm Architects and danish design house Menu is just too much. Everything about it looks so peaceful and rural, hard to imagine that its in an urban setting. Love the softly plastered brick and rangy wild plants, the wooden ceilings and old factory windows combined with the industrial lighting and simple modern chairs and gorgeous Raft Stools from Norm. The cutest little detail and I wish I could find them here are those black metal candle holders from Menu that are knocked into the wall.

How much fun can you have covered in birdshit?

THIS much! Shot Paco Rugs with (I don't need to tell you she's a magician with a camera) Elsa Young today. Ok so the birdpoop was a bit much, there were some close calls when the rugs nearly got showered in pigeon guano and eventually Elsa and I convinced ourselves we'd contracted avian flu. I felt very sorry for all the totally amazing carpets that we dragged in there with the help of four very willing Paco Rug employees. It was all worth it, even though we exhausted our supplies of hand sanitizer and wet wipes. Here are a few of instagramed moments from my day.

The Brain

If you follow me on Pinterest you'll notice that I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with windows, I guess it might have something to do with growing up in South Africa,  where for some or other reason the windows are generally low and wide. And in Johannesburg where your windows are always covered in some sort of hideous burglar bar. Thus I obsess over having a view and the biggest windows imaginable. This house dubbed The Brain, designed by Olsen Kundig Architects has always been one of many favourites.
