Old and new

Something I was very excited to try out was printing on some old paper that I found. The books still in their original bound form, with the pages uncut. (Does that make sense?) When you folded open the sections they made these huge A2 size pieces of paper. So beautiful. I decided to print my two favorite designs and this was the result. My first batch of paper prints. Whoop whoop. There are 22 of each design (and not too many left) but if you'd like one email me. For those of you that like something already framed there are some available at Anatomy Design.

Desperate much?

I know its almost spring when I look around and see that I've placed some sort of plant life on almost every surface of the house. A few instagram snaps from around the house this morning.

ABC carpet and home

An eternal wonderland. Every single time I visit, I'm blown away. Including the left over NY fashion week models shopping for home wares, it was filled with beautiful things. Here are a few pics that I snapped while drooling all over everything.

New cushions

I've been meaning to turn these sample fabric prints into cushions for ages and got my chance this morning. Allowing my kids to build forts with every single cushion and blanket in the house gave me the perfect opportunity to get them done. Most of them are printed on mens linen suiting and the others on plain white denim that I had lying around. Now that I've gotten these done I'm inspired to do a whole bunch more, all thats left to do is tidy up the bomb site in the lounge.

Sad chair

I saw this poor sad chair out on the pavement and had to coerce my friend who was driving to put it in her car. She was mortified at the thought of this disgusting mustard yellow thing anywhere near her. (I think she was more mortified that someone would see her loading it) Anyway, I sent old yella off with Shakespear the upholstery guy, 6 meters of charcoal wool and a wish for a better looking chair. And look what I got back! Have not really found a good spot for her yet, but it will come to me.

New v ou

For years this family has run a surplus business in Pretoria but recently opened a little shop in Greenside. Right next door to the Greenside Cafe. For all of us surplus deprived South Africans its really fabulous for a dig. Filled to bursting with fun things ready to be reinvented or just a clean. I found a hand painted surveyors ruler and two large round wooden things (have no idea what they are) but once cleaned up and polished will make great round mirror frames. I could easily have taken home all of those glass vases, and a brass fire hydrant but I had to reign myself in. Stop by if you are ever in the area, I guarantee you will not leave empty handed.

The collector

While on our trip to France we drove past this place at least twenty times, and since it was right near our house it was always right at the beginning of an adventure or right at the end of a very long day. We finally made it there and I was thrilled to witness two lifetimes worth of collections of just about anything you could think of. Everything grouped together with their kind. Fireplace shovels, andirons, brass faucets, door knockers. Sadly the experience was ruined by the MOST incredibly rude person EVER! The collector himself.
